Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Disease Research and Treatment The Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Disease Research and Treatment was created in 2019 to reinforce the implementation of the Rhode Island State Plan for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. The Council consists of dedicated researchers, advocates, clinicians, and caregivers. Lt. Governor Sabina Matos will carry on this important initiative. The Advisory Council is tasked with a range of responsibilities, including: Issuing information and recommendations on Alzheimer's disease policy; Evaluating state-funded efforts in Alzheimer's disease research, clinical care, institutional, home-based, and community based programs; Recommending amendments to the State Plan for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders; Coordinating training on Alzheimer's disease and dementia for licensed physicians and nurses; Coordinating healthcare facility operational plans for the recognition and management of patients with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.
