  • The Billing Adjustment: Lt. Governor McKee intervened with the Public Utilities Commission to eliminate the “billing adjustment,” a fee charged to customers when they switched their electric supplier.
  • Empower RI: In 2016, Lt. Governor McKee partnered with the Division of Public Utilities & Carriers to create Empower RI (www.ri.gov/EmpowerRI), an energy shopping website that allows ratepayers to shop for the best electricity prices for their homes and businesses. Since its inception, this site has allowed Rhode Islanders to avoid sharp increases in the standard offer and save thousands of dollars.
  • Ratepayer Protection Legislative Package: Lt. Governor McKee is pursuing legislation to increase customer service from the utility company to electric ratepayers and lower energy costs by strengthening the competitive supply market.
  • Storm Response Legislation: Lt. Governor McKee is pursuing legislation to that will improve the emergency preparation and response of utility companies operating in Rhode Island.
  • Utility Tax Windfall: Lt. Governor McKee is pursuing legislation to increase customer service from the utility company to electric ratepayers and lower energy costs by strengthening the competitive supply market.
