Advance RI Leadership Awards

  • The Lieutenant Governor Leadership Awards began in 1993 as a way to recognize Rhode Island's exemplary high school seniors each year.
  • Each high school in the state is invited to select one student who leads positive change in his or her school or community and inspires other students to excel and achieve.
  • In 2016, Lt. Governor McKee put a new spin on the program under the theme “Advance RI.” He asked student leaders to submit one great idea for advancing the future of Rhode Island.
  • Nominated students are honored at a ceremony at the State House where they receive official citations from the Lt. Governor.
  • The date of the 2018 awards ceremony is TBA.
